They speak a bit differently over the pond.. Biscuits, Scones, Cookies, and Crackers are all very different things on the various sides of the pond...

How can you list those and not list "fag"? Or "pants"? :-)

Try having a kid, then coding in their early years... Looking back at some of my code from that time, my "logic" did the job, but it was so un-necessarily convoluted I could hardly work out what it was supposed to do.

I'm not necessarily friends with all my coworkers but we have a mutual respect for each other and the job, sideline conversations at the coffee pot can be very useful.

Currently working from home since March 7th. Being a sociable chap, I miss the small interactions - even saying "hello" to the guy who maintains the office. Also interactions with other people who I've known for many years, but whose work life doesn't interact with mine any more.

You can live without that low-level interaction, but it's less healthy without it.

After several tests they find nothing wrong with the baby, but when he is five he is served apple strudel, and the child says: "This strudel is cold." The astonished parents ask the child why he’d not said anything for all this time and the child says: "Up until now everything had been satisfactory."

Banks won't hire younger staff because they need to train them up, and then they just leave for more money. They seem to prefer paying good money to retain good older developers (thank goodness).
