Clearly LED bulbs are a lot better at this point for many uses - but I see nothing wrong with anyone being able to manufacture some classic bulbs as well for those that prefer the look. There are some fixtures where classic bulbs just look nicer.

Filament LEDs are amazing - they have a much better color spectrum and warmth than even incandescents in some cases. Not to mention they have a great retro look. No, I don't see any going back unless you are a "rolling coal" (gratuitous waste/pollution) kind of guy.

I can see how some folks like incandescents over say, CF or older LED bulbs, but the newer filament LEDs [1] are amazing - they almost look better than incandescents. At this point, they're cheap enough, give you more light, for the power, and last longer than incandescents, so it's unclear if there's any interest left in going back to incandescents. Also LEDs run much less hot so aren't oppressive in the summer.

How do intend to create 8 more major nationwide mobile carriers?

We have 2 now. T-Mobile is getting there, but they are far from nationwide. Sprint is failing and will likely have a declining service area without the merger.

Simple. Nationalize the infrastructure, and make all the carriers into MVNO style service operators. You can now have an infinite number of carriers, even regional ones that have mandatory roaming structure in place.

We're way way past this simple reasoning. Facebook is a clear and present danger to democracy and must be regulated with an iron fist. Free market idolaters can go to hell in this istance.

You, your democracy, all your potential illicit activity, your most intimate secrets, and all that about your family and all your contacts - all that is for sale by FB. Hell, they're so nice, they'll even create a shadow account if you don't sign up.

My advice is vote Warren or Bernie Sanders.

I plan on doing that (even in the primary), but in the interim it'd also suggest you write your congressperson and get him/her to understand you think an actual market competition is American. A monopoly is just another way to say "state-run business". That's a surefire way to reduced freedom for you as a consumer and a citizen.

This is exactly what speculators want. Most "retail investors" are desperate for the next "sure thing". Volatility is a feature, for them.

Where did GP mention anything about populism or populist movements?

The current political divide is between globalists and populists.

There are other divides. I mean, breaking the law to obstruct justice, and fellating Putin may be things I'll avoid voting for, come 2020.
Oh, and Trump is a fake populist - none of this actually brings manufacturing or business back to the US.

Absolutely none of that should be required for a simple battery replacement. Your "personal data" is irrelevant to the process. If I tell a mechanic to do an oil change he isn't going to demand I be there because the entertainment system has my Bluetooth pairing data on it.

It's relevant because they're trying to ensure you're not scamming them with a battery that a) can't be replaced or b) is already healthy.

Also trying to avoid taking a phone that is a fake bag of parts. This shit actually happens, and Apple apparently loses millions a year on scammers who do that then complain to Apple.

Comparing a closed-loop system like Apple to a commodity parts situation like automobiles is not meaningful at all.

Lemme clear you up on this.

I did a battery replacement last year and this is what they have to do: 0) get you to login so they can attach their diagnostic tool. 1) check OS. 2) check battery life. 3) make sure the phone is serviceable.

If you try to drop off your phone - THEY CAN"T DO ANY OF THAT! You need to be present so a) you can authenticate and prove it's your phone and b) you know they're doing their job.

Then you can drop off your phone for them to replace the battery.

While I agree with your point (I don't use FB/TW/IG/etc), you should know that Liz Warren has promoted breaking up tech giants like Facebook (and it was well received on the left).
