Unfortunately the inability to play games you have paid for from backups is a casualty of the war against video game theft(I refuse to call it piracy, because it is outright theft in this case). Of course, being able to make backups of your own games has been a capability that has never existed on consoles.

If someone is able to come up with a way that would somehow allow legitimate customers to play backups of legally purchased games but not allow people to download games without paying for them, great. I'm all for that, as long as it isn't too intrusive. Until then, backups are a casualty of the war to prevent video game theft.

As in "homebrew" pirated games, yes? Do you honestly think more than 10% of the people who "jailbreak" a ps3 are doing it so they can run Linux or play homebrew games on it? Of course not, they are doing it so they can download games and not pay for them. Given the fact that one of the first things that seemed to be released with the new "jailbreak" were ways to play "backups", I think it is pretty obvious what people really want it for. Stop pretending otherwise. Sony is well within their rights to stop people from stealing games. If you are mad at Sony for taking away your ability to play Linux or whatever on it, maybe you should get mad at the "pirates" who feel they are entitled to play games they haven't paid for, because they are the reason Sony has to take away the capabilities.

This guy made a crapton of money off of Blizzard's game without giving anything back, in a manner that was questionably illegal, and unquestionably immoral.

Even then, Blizzard gives him a chance to bow out honorably, and he essentially spits in their face and makes funny faces at them while saying "neener neener neener, I'm gonna continue selling it and you can't stop me." If I was Blizzard I would have sued him too if I thought I could get away with it.

A business that has built itself on the corpses of all the other companies they have driven into the ground. Wal-mart has been a big influence in the drive to move manufacturing to China in order to save costs. They constantly push companies to make things cheaper, no matter the cost to quality.

They move into a town and drive all the smaller businesses out of business(who, coincidentally, paid their employees more and treated them better), and make property values plummet. Then, half the time, they close down that Wal Mart so they can build a new one down the road a bit. Ohio has seen this repeatedly recently, and now have over a dozen empty Wal Mart buildings in small towns, further dropping property values.

Wal Mart is an evil company that has driven itself up on the corpses of smaller companies and the broken backs of their abused employees, who have to put up with abuse, unpaid work, either no insurance or extremely expensive insurance, and wages that would require you to work 3 jobs to get over the poverty line.

One of the more amusing moments of my time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant was when I caught 3 students working together in a class where no collaboration was allowed. The sad thing is that in this particular class, there was only one correct way of doing the assignments, so anyone who did it correctly could not be caught. These three had such a horribly wrong answer that there was no way that 3 independent people could have gotten that answer.
