It only needs to report its location accurately when it falls to the ground for retrieval purposes. Then perhaps the texts from the out-of-range altitudes would be saved on the phone as unsent messages?

Screws in carpentry have been around for a lot longer, but only about 150 years ago did the manufacturing techniques and materials improve enough to make them more feasible than say, nails. Ever try making a screw by hand? Er... Don't answer that...
