Giving you the absolute most benefit of the doubt, you've installed something harmful "because Arch sucks, lol" and just can't admit it. I'm not even gonna read this hole diatribe, you're an absolute ass, and if you're not a liar then that actually makes this level of arrogance combined with this level of incompetence worse.

Seriously, cannot reproduce, and also, what you're saying is just not ballpark reasonable, and I'm sure multiple sources can prove you a liar. It's an 8 core processor at nearly 3GHz each. I have KDE running on a desktop here with a much slower CPU and even it takes the same almost 0 seconds to start Discover. Your statements are patently false, well beyond what could be characterized as "colorful exaggeration" and the fact you clearly had this huge pile of FUD all typed up waiting to paste as a response doesn't add to your credibility.

Comment Re:More developers? (Score 1) 149

Dude, here's what happened: I thought to myself "You know what? I really haven't run it in desktop mode for a few weeks, I don't remember how long it takes Discover to open up, maybe he's got a point." So I booted over to desktop mode to check it, and you know what I found out? Rounding to the nearest second, it takes precisely 0 fucking seconds to start. So which is it, are you a lying astroturfer with hot Russian money in his pocket, or just a fucking idiot who has done something utterly whack to his (alleged) 3 Steam Decks and can't trace cause and effect together?

Comment Re:More developers? (Score 1) 149

Well, it doesn't take 25 seconds to start for me, and it certainly doesn't render the rest of the machine unresponsive. Maybe your wifi sucks, or you're just a liar. I actually had a computer in 1996 and taking your statements at face value I'd have to assume you just don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Comment Re:I might rejoin the Linux community (Score 1) 149

Yea, the thing is that's only true if you're using testing/unstable/beta releases, which is very common because people want new stuff, but also largely considered self-inflicted injury by people with more experience. If you're running the stable release of any major distro and only using stuff from that distro's official repos you will almost never have real problems with it.

Comment Re:More developers? (Score 4, Insightful) 149

I've talked to several people who started using their Steam Deck as a Linux desktop, simply because it's already available as a feature, so that takes all the hassle of installation and configuration away, and they discovered that without those roadblocks it was very convenient and they liked it. I suspect the percentage of users doing that is higher than people think; all you need is a dock and it becomes a fairly capable general purpose computer.

Comment Re:I might rejoin the Linux community (Score 1) 149

Nothing is perfect yet, but Proton and Wine have both advanced by leaps and bounds, and the amount of games on Steam with native Linux ports have also skyrocketed. I'd say it's worth a try if you have a little patience, but getting help from the right sector of the community makes a big difference too.
