+ - Coronas-Foton was launched today!

wera writes "The new Russian science satellite Coronas-Foton was delivered to its orbit by Ucrainian carrier rocket Cyclone-3 at 16:30 MSK from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. The purpose of this project is to research the processes of accumulation free energy in the Sun corona and its transformation to the energy of accelerated particles. It's also planned to learn the way of accelerating particles in solar flares and to look for the correlation between the solar activity and Earth magnetic storms. Total hardware weight is 540 kg."
