+ - No Slashdot April Fools Jokes in 2008 8

Submitted by
An anonymous reader writes "Slashdot will not be participating in the April Fools jokes this year due to a lawsuit that was settled out of court with undisclosed terms stemming from the 2007 April 1st stunts. The false stories were determined to be too egregious by a yet to be named individual. Slashdot's parent company SourceForge, Inc. found it wiser to settle out of court then a lengthy battle that was obviously going to span several months.

The ponies will be missed."

That is so stupid. Why isn't this on the main page? I only see this when I'm not logged in.

This has to be a joke...and its not funny...cause they've ruined all my fun.

One of the other forum sites I hang out on turned the site to mobile device mode for a few hours as a joke. They said it was because certain users who were named burned through the bandwidth quota. Let's just say some people were a bit upset.
  • Is this a joke? If so, there was no lawsuit, and the claim that there will be no jokes this year is also false - there is this one, after all.

Well, this was posted on April 1, so who knows... maybe the big joke this year is that there are no jokes.
