writes "It's that time again and I need a new laptop for work. My current laptop is an HP ZD8000 and it's pretty much reached the end of it's useful lifespan. My bread and butter comes from developing on the Microsoft .Net platform mostly in C#. I usually find that a machine that has decent gaming specs works pretty good for development but I'm sick of lugging around a behemoth with a 17" screen. My wish list for a new system isn't very complex. Obviously, I need something beefy enough to run Vista with Visual Studio 2008. Almost all the laptops I've looked at so far are pretty comparable when it comes to disk capacity and installed RAM and pretty much every machine comes with 802.x support and the ability to add bluetooth. For a display, I'm thinking a 15" (or there about) screen but I would like resolution a little better than 1200 x 800 also, the ability so support two displays is important. Decent battery life would be nice but it's not a deal killer as I'm usually working at my desk. I'm leaning towards a Dell XPS M1530.
What would you recommend and why?"
