+ - Exxon Mobil shatters profit record->

Submitted by GeckoAddict
GeckoAddict (1154537) writes "CNN is reporting that Exxon Mobil has shattered profit records by making a quarterly profit of $11.7 Billion, the highest of any US Company in history. In addition, they reported annual profits of $40.61 Billion, which works out to almost $1300 in profit per second. From the article:

Exxon's earnings are sure to draw fire from consumer rights groups, who contend the oil industry is deliberately restricting supply...Exxon attributed its impressive results to strong performance across its divisions, but a large part of the surge in profit can be attributed to soaring oil prices.
This news follows the increases in profit for the number 2 (Chevron) and number 3 (Conoco) oil companies."
