  • The patent in question is for the idea of multiple desktops, something not implemented in the linux kernel (except in the context of virtual consoles) but rather in the various window managers for X11 distributed by Red Hat. So it's not even a GNU/Linux issue: installing the good ol' tvtwm [wikipedia.org] of 1990 over X11 would also create a system which persuambly infringes this patent. I wonder when it became possible to patent the past. PS: Novell has also been sued. Ha-Ha
    • Nowadays multiple desktops exist in any windowed OS.
      You can have them even in Windows (though you need 3rd party stuff).

One good reason why computers can do more work than people is that they never have to stop and answer the phone.
