Submission + - Surveillance Squirrels

An anonymous reader writes: The Iranians claim to have captured over a dozen squirrels outfitted with "spy" equipment. While many political bloggers are chuckling in their dismissal of the story, I am reminded of a paper published in 2002 in Nature regarding the remote control of rats. "Roborats" are the subject of a 2005 video from SUNY Downstate Medical Center posted on YouTube. And just this year, the Chinese published an article on the same subject. Are you still certain that the Iranian claims are false?
