+ - How do you deal with bad online retailers?

BitZtream (692029) writes "I'm curious as to how slashdot readers would handle my current situation.

I ordered a Wii bundle on June 6th from ebgames.com and paid the extra for overnight shipping. On June 8th the Wii product page said: Orders placed before 6/8/07 will be shipped on 6/11/07.

On June 11th, nothing happened on the ebgames.com status page for my order so I emailed them. The response was typical:

We apologize for the shipping delay this order has experienced. We are
currently investigating the problem; we will fix the problem and get
this item shipped out as soon as possible.

Later that evening my order status changed to 'Processing'. It hasn't changed since. So today, (June 13th) I called them twice. The first time was around 5pm EST and I was told the order had shipped and I will get it on the 14th. So I wait till this evening, around 9pm and call back to get a tracking number since I'm a bit skeptical. Now I'm told my order has not shipped, and it will be shipped tomorrow and I will get it on Friday, the 15th, at which point I promptly state that I expect my shipping charges to be reduced. No deal, they won't do it. Okay, cancel the order, the won't do that either.

This is entirely unfair in my eyes. I can drive to the local ebgames store and buy a Wii right this instant, but then I'll end up with two and have to go through the process of selling one.

I have very little faith that I'll get it on Friday now since they've obviously lied about it being shipped once already.

My question is simple, is there anything that I can do to get out of this deal other than contest the charge with the credit card company since they already have my money?"
