+ - Data Scientists to Consumers: Beware of Us

Submitted by theodp
theodp (442580) writes "A sizable majority of data scientists believe consumers should worry about the privacy implications of big data, the personal information collected on them, and how this data is used. According to a recent survey of statisticians attending the Joint Statistics Meetings Conference in Montreal, 4 of 5 respondents said there should be an ethical framework for collecting and using data. As LinkedIn is painfully learning, privacy concerns are no longer something your Chairman can dismiss as merely 'old people issues' (Davos video)."
