jfruh writes: Unisys is a direct descendant of the Sperry Rand corporation, and the OS 2200 operating system that runs its mainframes ultimately derives from the OS designed for UNIVAC models in the early 1960s. But OS 2200 today runs on x86 architecture — and Unisys is pushing its mainframes as a virtualization solution, an ultra-reliable machine on which to run many Linux and Windows server instances.
