+ - Canonical Announces Mir, Ubuntu's X.Org/Wayland Replacement->

Submitted by hypnosec
hypnosec (2231454) writes "Canonical has announced its own display server ‘Mir’, which is being developed in-house and will serve as replacement of X.Org Server. Mir is not based on any other existing display server projects or Wayland and is being developed for the next generation of devices like mobile devices, tablets and even desktops to unleash an entirely new level of user experience. Mir has been dubbed as a component that will act as a replacement for the X window server system in a bid to enhance and unlock next-gen user experiences for devices all devices powered by Ubuntu operating systems."
