+ - Windows Version of Hadoop Enters Beta->

Submitted by hypnosec
hypnosec (2231454) writes "Efforts of Hortonworks and Microsoft have finally paid off as the beta version of open source big data platform Hadoop distribution is finally ready for Windows. The Windows port has been in the works for over 18 months and is packed with software programs such as HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Pig among others. Hortonworks is going to keep the Windows HDP open source like its Linux counterpart. As it stands the beta version of HDP will not have all the features as that of the version available on Linux but, it will contain all the core components needed to run Hadoop. The enterprise version of the distribution will be ready within months to come."
