An anonymous reader writes "Mozilla is getting into the smartphone OS business. Firefox OS for smartphones, and I`m betting tablets aren`t far behind will be completely open-source and rely on HTML5 standard as its guts. Touted as having a much smaller footprint than IOS or Android presumably this will not need the hardware requirements that seem to jump every year. Mozilla also stated that third party developers would be free to sell mobile apps without needing to share revenue."
