mask.of.sanity writes: Encrypted user data on Android phones can be cracked by placing devices in a freezer to preserve RAM.
The cold boot attack, demonstrated on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, broke the implementation of full disk encryption in Android 4.0. It worked on rooted devices, however contacts, photos and messages can still be plucked from stock phones.
