An anonymous reader writes "Added to the Linux 3.8 kernel is the F2FS file-system, a new Linux file-system developed by Samsung that's designed around modern NAND flash storage devices. Benchmarks of F2FS show the file-system is competitive with EXT4 and Btrfs and XFS in many workloads, in some cases even faster, from an Intel solid-state drive. But some results show the file-system not always fsync'ing to the disk, which may be fine with mobile devices generally being battery powered. It's not clear what products Samsung may begin shipping with the Flash Friendly File-System."
