judgecorp writes "Thursday was a full-on day of IT failure. Twitter's 40 minute flutter was caused when a data centre failed, followed by two back-up services. Meanwhile, Google Talk went silent for a time, and Microsoft Azure had troubles in Europe. In the UK, the G-Cloud public sector web service, which moved away from Azure to get more reliable service,was down anyway. One thing all providers agree on — this had nothing to do with the network meltdown predicted for the start of the Olympics."
