It's a glaring illustration of what I've been preaching ecer since the RIAA labels sued Napster -- it isn't about piracy, it's about crushing the independant competetion. They have radio, indies don't. As Doctorow says, nobody ever went broke from piracy, but many artists have starved from obscurity.
It's about starving the indies. The DoJ should be looking at RICO and monopoly charges... but of course they won't.
