Submission + - How best to detect and display hard disk failure? 1

kiberovca writes: I'm planning on building an home file server, and the thing that bugs me the most is — how best to detect and then display hard disk failure? Perhaps I'm lacking the proper term for that kind of equipment, and because of that I wasn't able to find it?
