cylonlover writes "According to new research from iSuppli, smartphone sales will top a billion units a year by 2105 as the smartphone's share of phone shipments rockets from 15.8% in 2009, to 32.5% this year to 54.4% in 2015). Planet Earth only has 6.75 billion human inhabitants. By the turn of the decade, the vast majority of human beings will be carrying a networked personal computer on their person at all times."

Unlike a personal computer, a smartphone is typically subsidized by a 24-month cellular voice and data service plan. At $60 per month, how is everybody supposed to afford voice and data service for a smartphone? And with more customers competing for the same limited RF spectrum, don't expect the monthly price to go down.
