msmoriarty (195788) writes "With the interest/discussion on our highest-paid programmers article, our reporter decided to do a follow-up looking into the languages and skills needed to work on high-frequency trading (HFT) systems. There's actually a pretty wide range of languages/tools used, but Linux is the "default" OS and, not surprisingly, the "ability to work under pressure when the traders are screaming at you" is a must-have skill."

    Fuck that shit. Screaming only makes the screamer feel better. The only time screaming is called for is when you don't give a damn any more about actually succeeding and just want to share the pain. If that's what it takes to work on wall street, no wonder the place is so fucked up. It's like institutionalised failure.
