philos (21381) writes "Most people know that nearly everything you do over open wireless networks can be easily snooped. Current wireless security requires client authentication and isn't an option for most hotspot providers. A new proposal for open secure wireless aims to remedy this situation by leveraging the existing EAP-TLS standard without client certificates, in much the same way as HTTPS does not require client authentication unless configured to do so."
