Unlike in the West where people download movies, in China, people buy ultra cheap DVD rips. What good is a netbook if there's no DVD drive? Perhaps this is why the more robust Intel CULV based notebooks are taking off in the streets of Shenzen."

    That 340 million (of whom 94%+ is on broadband) according to 2009 market data.

    Unlike in the West where people download movies, in China, people buy ultra cheap DVD rips. What good is a netbook if there's no DVD drive?

    I haven't used the DVD drive in ages. Install Linux? Download the image and copy/dd it to USB storage. Transferring huge amount of data between place A and B? Use a hard disk. Movie? Cinema or BitTorrent, or both. Yarr!
