Slashdot writes "The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1, unleashed in February, forces an undisclosed Firefox extension on Windows users, which not only injects a serious security vulnerability into Firefox (also present in Internet Explorer), but it disables the uninstall button, meaning the only way to get rid of it, is to edit the Windows registry.

Yes, it is lame Microsoft installs this.
The "uninstall" button actually worked on my Windows 7 machine running Firefox 3.0.10, either MS reenabled that function in the new .NET update or in Windows 7. Either way, it's about time.
.NET ClickOnce==Java WebStart + Monopoly Attitude (Score:2, Informative)
There is also a "Java Quick Starter" add-on which has the uninstall option disabled. Looks like MS is doing the same thing Sun did... Of course Microsoft is a predatory monopolist that has a long history of abusing it's position in the market.
The user-agent string is also modified by the .NET plug-in, but not by Java. My work laptop has:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Java disables the uninstall because you manage the plug-in through their management tools, but I don't see any tools for the .NET plug-in; it isn't in the control panel like
