Journal FortKnox's Journal: I miss -1 7

It was funny and avoidable (just set a higher threshold).

I actually miss some of the -1 comments. I'd rather slashdot just made a lower score (like -4) so that people could super-lower trolls, but we can still see them.

In a site that claims no censoring, not allowing someone to post... isn't that censoring?

  • While not perfect, everyone can moderate, but only people with high karma[whatever] can put someone down to 0, and, unlike /., it takes a while to get good karma.. K5 has a tougher audience.

    • K5 also bans crapflooders and spammers.

But still - Very rarely do you see someone getting into a hissy fit over poor ratings. Though, there are people there who do nothing but go into the list of posts scored below 1 (ie, between 0 and 1) and rate it 5, bringing it back over the line, making visible to everyone again.

One thing I like about K5's mojo is it's time-weighted, meaning that you have to keep up the good posting to retain TU status, even though the only thing you get is the ability to hand out 0's.

But many of the things that you would want to read would wind up at -4, while crap you don't need to deal with would float at -1. It's a no-win situation.

And they'll say 'only the government can censor. If you don't like what we do, go elsewhere'.
