Journal Profanity Blacklist's Journal: What is the Profanity Blacklist?

The Profanity Blacklist is a way to avoid, at least partially, profanity and vulgarity on Slashdot. To use it, mark Profanity Blacklist as a friend and in your profile set "Foe of Friend" to a negative number. This will lower the score of posts of users that have posted with profanity or vulgarity.

What gets a user marked as a foe of Profanity Blacklist? Posting with profanity or vulgarity of course. To what level, you might ask? In general, anything that would not be allowed on network TV. If it is in a quote from another post, I am a bit more lenient. If in doubt, I don't mark the user as a foe. If they really deserve to be on the list, they will do it again and they can be marked as a foe then.

What if you think using profanity and vulgarity is perfectly okay? Then don't mark Profanity Blacklist as a friend. It's not censorship because the reader makes the choice.
