Journal Jaguar777's Journal: Ordered a Tungsten ring / Wedding band 3

I am getting married! Again! :)

I wanted to get a much cooler ring this time around so I found a nice company on the web selling tungsten rings. I went with the 'ascent' style, size 9.25, 8mm wide, and polished finish.

I was leaning toward titanium at first, but decided on tungsten since it is on average 50% heavier than steel. Plus tungsten rings are extremely durable, and very hard to scratch. I had a vision in my head of Gandalf dropping the ring on the floor, and hearing a nice thud.

Once I receive the shipment I will post another journal entry to let you know how it turned out if anyone is interested.

  • It does get scratched, but not as much as steel. I like how it is very lightweight, I hardly feel it on me.

But I have to say after looking at the tungsten rings that they are very cool. They seem to have a nice color, and if they are as scratch resistant as you say they are a good investment indeed.

Anyone know Tungsten's hardness (vs Steel and Ti?)

Actually the website I listed had some good info pages on Titanium and Tungsten. All the extra info they provided made me feel more comfortable ordering from them instead of some of the other companies I found when searching for a ring.

      • My favorite jewlrey color has always been silver, but for my wedding band I think I will go Tungsten. If only for the durability reasons. But also for the cool factor of having the hardest knwn metal (with out getting into all those elements above 100).
