  • I would like a Gmail account for a couple of reasons:

    1. Yahoo (my current freemail provider) has a rather lame interface, and I would like to check out for myself the Gmail interface to see if it's as good as others say it is.

    2. I do get some rather large files (pictures of relatives, etc.) along with some documents from work when I'm too lazy to write them to a CD-RW. I would like to just email it to myself and then retrieve it from a large mailbox.

    3. I like Google, and I hope that Gmail is as good an
  • I am a underprivlaged, underpaid underpants gnome with a urinary tract infection. My yahoo! email account did not come with enough space to get my antibiotics by email. Also, I need it for my philanthropic work with disadvantaged urban Kia salesmen who are addicted to The Drugs. And my son (i promise i have a son, he is on The Drugs too) is lost in the jungle, i won't be able to get his video email without it.
  • Yup, having some Gmail for offsite backup would be really cool! So, if you have one to spare: kjetikj@astro.uio.no
  • I'm a student, still on dial-up, so I can't set up my own email server. I currently use hotmail, and have trouble fitting all my email into the limit.

I also have trouble with the interface, and it is not easily possible to keep my email locally, so I have to keep it on server or delete it (which I can't do because a lot of it is important).

Thanks for the chance, my address is lachlan76 (at) hotmail (dot) com
  • If I get a gmail account I will:

    Solve world hunger.
    Make Microsoft adopt GNU GPL.
Make Canada change it's National Symbol from a beaver to Tux.
Make George Bush say: Sorry I was wrong about the WMD.
Make Osama jump to his death from the statue of liberty.
Force all cats & dogs in the world to get along.
Get all the Linux distros' to agree on one common design/setup so all the folders are the same regardless of which distro you use.
Make spammers eat Spam for the rest of their lives.
Donate my left kidney to yo

  • It's something I would send a million thanks for because it's something you don't see that easy..

It's something untouchable, it exists but yet it does not exist ...

Whenever I get the account I can spread the untouchable by inviting other people ...

It only takes 1 key to get 10 more people in this house of untouchable secrets, maybe you might consider this a valid reason?
  • I would really like a gmail account because my new place of employment has blocked most webmail sites, but not gmail yet :) I'm too lazy to run squirrelmail at home, and besides, that would interfere with my bittorrent activity while I'm at work :)
  • I am currently contributing to an open source ASP.NET web mail front on sourceforge. It is intended to be used by anyone and everyone who needs such product for their Windows based servers.

The purpose of this is to help provide more open source alternatives for Windows systems. It is also being designed to work under mono.

Having a Gmail account would be extremelly usefull for research and developement purposes.

I already have a big email account on my own server. My reason for a Gmail account is to
  • I just want to see what it's like; as a longtime Yahoo mail user, I'm dying to write an intelligent, unbiased comparison of the two.
  • 1. I hate my hotmail account 2. I've been an avid Google user for years, I'm hoping their gmail service is as good as their search engine 3. I'm tired of begging for a gmail invite 4. I'LL SEND YOU NAKED PICTURES OF MY WIFE!!!! :-) jonno32@hotmail.com

The contest is over right now. Check my journal [slashdot.org] for the winners, and more invite contests to come.

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
