There's a module for this, of course, but since I'm paying big bucks for the thing, it should already be complete. Think about it: what if you want the news? You can't listen to them. I love the 40gb, of course, but there are better alternatives. Maybe just not so good looking. I think my money is worth more than a i'm-only-cute music box.
Actually, I nedd a new mp3 player. My wonderful Nomad I is going to the trash. It served me well for various years. Now I need another one that's also so flexible and cheap. I don't know exactly which one to get.

Someone still uses that? Okay, granted you did say for news. News is practical, but not for music.
Anyway here's what's so great about the iPod:
1. It has the best interface for a music player. Period.
2. Massive storage, decent battery life, loads of useful and fun extras.
3. Like any standard firewire hard drive, you can use it for all purpose storage. Even install an operating system on it and boot it without losing the ability to play the music on it!

A good music player SHOULDN'T be judged by the interface as the main caracteristic. A music player, mainly a music player with a 40g capacity, should be a "press play and forget" device

i agree only with massive storage here. batery life of a hard-disk-less system is much longer. Besides, the HD-less types i can safely have in my pocket and forget about it. first cause
