Chacham's Journal: Verbiage: Some moments seem to last longer

Some moments just last forever.

I was just driving, and saw a young boy on his bicycle. He was slowing down, until the fall was inevitable. But, it didn't happen yet. He was still moving. Then, finally, he stopped, and *WUMP* he fell onto the grass, bike and all.

The entire thing took mere seconds, yet the point where he stopped and right before he fell, just seemed like it took so long.

I Want to Ride My Bicycle

I am nine or ten years old and I have just got a new bicycle and I'm cycling really, really fast down a hill with a curve. A curve I can't make becuase I'm going too fast. And I suddly realize that I won't be able to make the curve: I'm going to crash right into a hedge. And then I do.

The moment lying between the realization that I am going to crash into the hedge and the actually crashing seemed to last forever. It had the quality of a picture: as if it were frozen, in real time, there and then.

Are 'moments that last forever' a bicycle related phenomenon?
