Journal secondsun's Journal: On being gay in GA 3

WHy would I be in south GA and be gay? It is my home and I grew up here. Will I be here when I get my degree? Probably not but until then it is a cheap place to stay and work.

I miss my boyfriend back in Atlanta, I miss him alot. I tried to come out to my parents but now they pretend it didn't even happen.

Oh well, in the south the people are fake nice so they usually don't say anything to your face.

Oh yeah, /. has really hot guys on it. Don't know how it happened but hell yeah!

Been there, done that, with much the same results I'm afraid. I gave them two years and decided to force the issue once again. The result was a short period of everyone talking and no one listening and now they're back to pretending it didn't happen.

    Hang in there.

    • Thanks for the encouragment. It is suprising how the people who have responded to my journal have been both kind and level headed.

The thing about telling your parents, according to the coming out counsilor at Tech, is that they have to mourn for you and their ideal you. My way of helping them next time I bring it up is to have grandkids (adopted, AI or somehow). It should make things easier.
    • Comments like that make me realise just how lucky I am to have a supportive family. Thinking of you both.

      Leigh.

PS. Met a lovely boy from GA on sat night here in Christchurch, NZ. I seem to collect americans....that and drag queens :)

Anyone can make an omelet with eggs. The trick is to make one with none.
