Journal YankeeInExile's Journal: What, me karmawhore? 2

Well -- I guess I should be proud. For the first time today, some AC posted that I was a Karma Whore, with the suggestion to look at my user page for evidence

In some sense of the word, I suppose it's true. I tend to write comments only about material in which I have personal knowledge, or express well founded opinions without resorting to ad hominem attacks.

Would I continue to write were it not for the positive feedback one gets from /.-karma? Probably not, but I suspect that was one of the motivating factors for CT et al to add moderation and karma in the first place.

What, me karmawhore?

  • I'm the AC troll who said you were a karma whore. I wouldn't take it personally, I did the same to half of the comments that got high mod points on that article. Actually I'm a karma whore. I'm getting a bit bored of it now so I think I'll just leave /. forever and leave you fickle minded GNU hippy, Linus long hair, communist zealouts to your own devices.

    Farewell /.

I may post a full valedictory on some article if I get round to it, illustrating how I abused the /. system to get Excellent karma.
  • but I know what you mean. Just about any /. poster who doesn't resort to crude jokes, cheap shots, and actually RTFA and researches their own position is going to wind up with a large number of "Insightful", "Interesting" and "Informative" moderations. Keep up the intelligent postings. :D
