Journal Tickenest's Journal: The Awards Show for the Awards Shows (or Square One rulz) 2

This article on CNN is about a new awards show starting up in Britain called the Awards Awards. Now, this has been needed for a long time, but the article mentions an episode of Absolutely Fabulous in which Edina Monsoon attends the "PR PR Person's Awards Dinner of the Month Lunch."

However, the PBS children's series Square One beat them to the punch by a mile. The only reference I can actually find to it on Google is here, but Square One's ongoing crime series Mathnet had a mysterious revolving around the ASFAS, or the Awards Show for the Awards Shows, and the AP writer has failed miserably to cite this earlier mention of such a concept.

Damn AP.

  • I remember that! They would hold their calculators like they were guns.
Didn't SquareOne also have some Pac Man looking thing on some of the episodes?
I haven't seen it (or thought about it) since I was in 3rd grade (about 1988)
    • The gentleman you are think of, Vil, is Mathman, who played on a Pac-Man-like board, and every time he came to a number on the board, he'd have to decide whether it fit the rule for that board (such as numbers less than .5) and then eat it if he thought it did fit the rule. If he was wrong (and it was always from eating a number he shouldn't have, never the other way around), Glitch, a nasty cyclone fellow would come out, chase him around, and eventually eat him.
