Cotinuing on the previous JE, here's an old Jon Katz post. In it he notes this slashdot sells-his-book phenomenon, makes this cute comment, Everyone's first impulse was to cite the USA Today review. But that didn't make sense. It was obvious to me that it was Slashdot that was driving the books. For one thing, USA Today is linked to Barnes & Noble's website, not Amazon., and everyone disliked him then too.
