Journal Chira's Journal: What are the meaning of ... 8

Voila!

Bon!

Meh!
(Correction: This was not the word that my boss used. I found out later that he used the word 'Ben').

My boss loves to say these words to me but I don't know anything about French.

By the way, I really miss slashdot. I am to tired to write, though.

Bon - Good Meh - It's been adopted into every day usage in English. Kind of means - "not good."
    • Meh. I need to pay more attention to my HTML.
    • Viola - There

It's worth noting that this doesn't really give the full connotation. It's not like "over there" it's "There! I've done it, I've shown you, I've accomplished something!"

      • well, Voila(with the accent ague over the a) actually does mean "Over there", as in the opposite of Voici (which means "right here").
But in conversation english, its more akin to "ta-da!" , making it the Vaudeville version of Q.E.D.!
  • Some good french for you:

Zut Alors! (without pronouncing the 's', like ZOOT ALOOR!)
kinda means "awwww crap!" or "too bad!" or "what a shame!"

and Bof! which kinda means "whatever!" or "nonsense!" (not to be confused with BOFH)
