Journal handsomepete's Journal: Is Jboss really as complicated as it looks? 1

Today I had a Jboss/Tomcat linux box dropped in my lap to support. I can't figure out what the hell I'm doing with it. Does anyone have some good links on how to do the "simple" stuff (virtual servers etc)? My only real webserver experience is with Apache, and the only thing the dropee showed me was the location of the config files. Any info appreciated.

I hope everyone is doing well, by the way. I haven't said anything in a looong time.

Is Jboss really as complicated as it looks?

  • Think of it this way:

Apache does all the fanciness you know (virtual servers, etc...)

JBoss does all the application stuff (Java stuff, DB stuff, etc...).

The JBoss website has lotsa info and books and links.

Honestly, though, if you don't know java, you'll probably get lost real fast. Have the java developers handle the JBoss side of it, and you can control the apache side.
