Journal icovellauna's Journal: Hair Today 9

Today I am going to get a hair cut. I have always had long hair. Really, never had my hair short. Well, it's falling out a little at a time, and not growing back, and it's brittle, and not fun. So in the interest of a graceful transition, I'm gonna go see a hairdresser, and get it cut. I don't know how short it will be, I'm gonna trust him to help me work that out. I've known him for years, though he's never touched my hair before. Bought a car from him, years ago, and see him from time to time. He sends me a Christmas present every year. A Sweet Gay Hairdresser with taste and class. He'll do fine for me.
A new adventure!

  • i chopped six inches off mine yesterday. *sigh* i really need a hairstylist, but it depends on who it is. (it's not marcus, is it?) You know, i was thinking about it the other day and wondering how you'd look with darker hair. Not dark as in black, but dark as in browner, auburnish brown... it would also have the advantage of being farther from your skin tone, i don't know. You could wear bandanas and look like a pirate either way...

    Anyway let me know how it goes and i'd love to see it. Think of it as a c

    • I will send a photo. And no, it's not Marcus. I don't think I would let him touch my head. I have and will wear bandanas as time goes on, and silk scarves. I went to a place right up the street from where Dad works. They did a great job and were really nice to me. I bought a car from the guy's cousin - the Toyota I had before the Spirit car I drive now. She (the cousin) works there too. Let me know if you want to go sometime, I'll send you the phone number,and you can go to the T station and we can pick you
  • Ah yes, hair. It's been a long while since I had long hair. Or mainly dark brown hair. Or a meaningful parting. Or anything much at the front. :-(

    On the plus side, I've nearly got a complete beard, as opposed to Amish-with-a-moustache. :-)

    MT.
    • Gone today! Well, some of it. Just shorter now. But I think I will skip the beard and/or mustache. I don't think gaining either of those would make up for the lose of hair in my case! Still an interesting idea. Now that would cause me to rethink my feminine identifications!
  • In college I shaved my head on a dare. It never really recovered since then. If you are losing your hair, its best to keep it shorter and brushed forward (hides the receeding hairline). Just a pointer from a fellow "to be bald" man ;-)
    • Er...you may want to check the name on the top of this journal. Since icovellauna is Sol's mother, I don't think she's a man ;)
      • NOT a man. Thankyou. But still a "to be bald", so it's all good.And thank you for noticing. Losing my hair did present me with (early on) the fact that I had always had long hair as part of my identity as feminine and I was obliged to re-think how I identified that aspect of my personality. A useful opportunity, sigh, like I need more of those. I know, I know....
      • Heh, its slashdot and I assumed (incorrectly). I'm a bit of a maroon today (and yesterday)! Sorry sol's mum!
    • Thankyou! In fact, the hairdresser I went to did sort of do that - it's shorter on the sides - about shoulder length, and brushed across the front, not toward the back, and a little mousse at the roots so it appears fuller than it is. A good tip! Thanks. From a fellow to be bald (wo)man! :-}

One way to make your old car run better is to look up the price of a new model.
