AceCaseOR's Journal: Never watch The Animatrix at night

Alright, I finally, finally got around to checking the Animatrix out from the library, and watching all the little installments. I knew I was expecting something of a mind-fuck from The Second Renaissance, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite as disturbing as the final battle between the Humans and the Machines was. And, I made a mistake of watching it late in the evening so, all that freaky shit was stuck in my head when I went to sleep.

Now, I knew that the Humans were going to lose the battle with the AIs, but I didn't expect the defeat to be that... disturbing. Though, I admit, the tactics really sucked.You've got reinforced World War One style trenches, which you can at least defend, and your being attacked, specifically at your position, and instead of holding your ground while the enemies move up at you, you rush out of your positons and go to meet them on a straight, flat field with no cover to speak of. Does not make strategic sense to me. Not using fixed defences because they wouldn't work for that engagement is one thing. Not using them when they'll actually be an advantage for you on the other hand, is something else.
