      • My opinion for Bush is moving toward a meeting with my opinion of Obama somewhere around mediocrity.
Neither dude seems terribly interested in pursuing the fundamental threats to liberty in the United States.
I can venture a tiny shred of sympathy for Bush, given the way he's been relentlessly pilloried by the propaganda mongers in the media.
Ultimately, though, we're reaping a century of Holy Progress, and there isn't much need to whinge on about the stuffed shirts that have brought us this ruin.
        • Mediocrity?? Is that what you call the wars, torture, spying, etc. now? They are far from mediocre, and have gone above and beyond expectations. They have successfully domesticated the populous better than in any other country, the only surprise being how easy it is. I am confident that their business partners are very pleased. Let me know when you see past the fluff.

          • I call "the wars, torture, spying, etc. now?" what we have permitted our government to do.

Let me know when you see past the fluff.

Oh, buzz off, boss. I have seen past the fluff. The only cure is more, continuous engagement from the people. We can trade cynical riffs back and forth ad nauseum. Tell me what you're actively doing to alter the societal course in any other direction, please.

            • ...what we have permitted our government to do.

Yes, and we will continue to let them do even more of the same, and worse. That includes all of you people with your 'lesser evil' crap. Bush, and all the others have done a very competent job of doing what they were hired to do.

Oh, buzz off, boss. I have seen past the fluff.

I have to doubt that. You have a funny way of showing it. Your obsession with a single artifact of our animal behavior indicates a certain lack of depth. All you do is quote other Internet

              • I have to doubt that. You have a funny way of showing it. Your obsession with a single artifact of our animal behavior indicates a certain lack of depth. All you do is quote other Internet pundits (more like putzes). I have every reason to believe that you will continue to vote for their hand picked successors. Your personal Romney 'campaign' during the last cycle provides evidence of that. You know what they say about di Nile..

After you're done buzzing off, you can buzz off some more. Here you condescendingly bag on me for doing what I think correct--to wit, supporting principles of individual liberty--and all I get is this bored-of-life piffle in reply.
You're either accepting the status crap, or diligently working toward an alternative. And if you're flinging poo at those doing the latter, then you're really about the former.
Stand, deliver, and describe an acceptable course, sir.

                • :-) Ah, so that's your game, eh? Unless you can provide an alternative to marketing and perpetrating murder and mayhem for profit, we're gonna keep on doing it. Yeah, that's the ticket. I only 'accept' the status crap to same the same extent that you do. I only reflect your attitude. So if I appear to be trolling, then clear up your cultural cataract and take a better look at yourself. One thing I can guarantee you is that you do not support the principles of individual liberty, certainly not outside the bo

                  • So, you're a refined version of the argument clinic, accusing, accusing, accusing.

One thing I can guarantee you is that you do not support the principles of individual liberty, certainly not outside the boundaries of your cultural conditioning. It is clear that your privileged status that you wish to protect is invisible to you, it is the default, so accustomed you are to living it, like breathing itself. Everything else is hedonism and idolatry and should be severely punished.

You accuse me of rank fascism?

                    • You accuse me of rank fascism?

Do you really have to go and make shit up now? The observations are nothing out of the ordinary. People are driven by instinct and conditioning. What are you so upset about?

And let's see how your agriculture does without a little fertilizer. Content free is the five gallon bucket of current events you are drowning in.

                    • I'm nonplussed by a pointed finger backed by 0 evidence.
                    • I actually believe it is upon you to provide evidence that you are any different from anybody else.

                    • How can I possibly be different? Same periodic table of elements, same chromosomes. No magic.
                    • Precisely... That's why I wonder what I am supposed to be 'accusing' you of.

                    • Well, you should accuse me of standing for individual liberty, minimalist government, fiscal sanity, and a disdain for fallacies that have their roots in Rousseau or Marx's piffle.
                    • Well, you should accuse me of standing for individual liberty...

But you don't... And apparently you believe it's perfectly okay for a person to buy up whole continents and fence them off and charge an entry fee (that's from a previous post you made against any limits on property 'ownership'). Land, air, and water are not yours to claim. Only the things you make and keep can be. Liberty is an antithesis to property claims of natural resources.

I can understand how your desire for authority via your deity clou

                      I mean: yeah. If there's a market.

Land, air, and water are not yours to claim.

Really. You're invalidating all of our existing property law, titles, as well as a swath of international law, just like that? You go girl!
I'm sincerely in pursuit of Truth.

I can understand how your desire for authority via your deity clouds your thoughts on Rousseau.

So, if you can out-Christ the Christ, I'll just drop everything and come over to your camp.

                    • I mean: yeah. If there's a market.

And that, sir, is what makes all your arguments against the 'state' pure bullshit. The market is the state. In fact that is true today. The 'market' is what created the 'state'. That is where the rules come from, even the ones you claim are 'socialist'. Eh, thanks anyway for providing a future reference when I need it.

You're invalidating all of our existing property law, titles, as well as a swath of international law, just like that?
