Journal damn_registrars's Journal: I'm sure these are a coincidence and nothing more... 6

Because of course, nobody would ever follow someone around with mod points to try to trash their karma or anything:

Poorly worded title , posted to Apple: 75% of Our World Wide Power Needs Now Come From Renewable Power Sources , has been moderated Flamebait (-1).

How many people are buying this needlessly? , posted to Adobe To Australians: Fly To US For Cheaper Software , has been moderated Overrated (-1).

Certainly, their point of my comment in a discussion in my own journal entry being overrated must be accurate. And the fact that all four of these happened in a very short time is nothing but a coincidence. Nothing to see here...

  • Somebody loves ya, but I can assure you it ain't me.
    • I noticed that as well, which was amusing.

That said, I see mod-bombing as way below you. I wouldn't have suspected you even if you hadn't already written in that JE.

Regardless, it was a futile gesture by whoever did it. I've had people unload 10 downmods on me in a single shot and that didn't move my karma either.

I seem to get hit like this every month or two myself. It's never yet caused any change I could see in my karma. I think any regular poster with strong points of view (on whichever side of whatever issue) probably gets hit with it at some point.

It has actually been a while since this has happened to me, it use to be more frequent. That said, I don't write on here quite as often as I did years ago...

I generally make a point of pointing out the futility of the action.

At this point I will reiterate my standard point of the fact that when slashdot had a working metamoderation system, there was a mechanism for preventing this from happening in the future. They permanently broke that system a few years ago and now we're back to this.

      • They wasted their points on you, meaning they couldn't harm someone vulnerable.

Somebody ought to cross ball point pens with coat hangers so that the pens will multiply instead of disappear.
