The former comment is not deserving of any negative moderation. The latter comment could reasonably be labeled Flamebait, but is not a Troll; it's entirely factual!

I've been causally pointing out what apartheid is and what the 4th Geneva convention prohibits on Israeli forums and newspaper sites, much hilarity. Imagine if you took the paranoia of a person who has listened to only the most jingoistic right wing talk shows their entire life and paired that with the surety of being a "chosen people" like Jehovah's Witnesses. Can there be anything more fun to fuck with, I think not.

Linzeal, I've got to agree with you. While trolling is never an acceptable behavior, there are just certain folks, the ones who combine hatred and paranoia with absolute certainty of their own rightness, who just beg to be fucked with.

Those are both troll posts. The second also attacks the poster indirectly. I'm sure they don't condone child molestation just because they identify with a church that negligently allows it to happen, fails to punish the perpetrators, and then tries to cover it up. I also thought the speculation about what the church would do about heresy today, if it had the power, was incorrect and didn't support your point anyway.

Troll means "something I do not believe but that I will say anyway to get a rise out of you". The word you want is Flamebait. Being marked as a Troll when I am NOT one is offensive to me, not that I'm going to go open my wrists over it. And flamebait requires that a comment be written simply to piss people off, but my goal is to let other people know they are a troll or a toolbag.

There's your problem. You think it's personal. To troll is to write something inflammatory and off-topic to get a response. That's it. It has nothing to do with what you personally think or believe. If you want to take it personally, then you are simply trolling yourself.
