I just soldered together a wicked kluge from a pile of 0603 (1.6 mm Ã-- 0.8 mm) and SOT-23 (2.9 mm Ã-- 1.3) surface mount components.

I hope the damned thing works.

Have to rely on memory and then muscle memory. If it is out of the case and I can throw a really bright light on it and then use a magnifier that isn't so bad, but inside the case..not so easy, need to be three handed and three eyed...

      I tend to be near sighted, but my corrected vision is pretty good - 20/15 as I recall. Doing fine work like this though gets taxing in a hurry. It doesn't help when I'm trying to get all the tiny parts to hold still and forget to breath. I may have to try the old take a breath, let half out, squeeze (or solder in this case); in order to get it right without passing out at the workbench.
