The Mosin [wikipedia.org] is an M44 like your Gf's.
The straight pull rifle is a Steyr-Mannlicher M1895/30 [wikipedia.org]. It fires 8x56R and kicks like a mule - way more than the Mosin.
Both qualify as curios and relics.
The Tannerite targets were about 70 yards out, just enough to be a challenge from a standing position.

it's been 3 years since I could just drive out in the desert, find a hill and pop off some rounds. no hills here in central florida, well most of florida period.

I love seeing some green and water once in a while, but I don't think I could ever make my home anywhere but Arizona.

The gun laws have improved a tad since I moved here - but you are correct, they aren't as good as in AZ.
If I ever have the opportunity I think I'd go back to Arizona, though not necessarily back to the valley.
