Yep: "Democrat Lite"

  • They are afraid to repeal it because eventually people would realize they have yet to come up with an "alternative" that is different from the current law. The voters would notice if congress repealed a law and then passed the same exact law again the next week with a different name on it - which is the current plan from every GOP POTUS hopeful.
    • The deeper point is that the GOP is mostly the starboard shock-absorber of Progress.
      • Not sure how you could possibly call HIIBA 2010 a "progressive" act. The only thing progressed by it was insurance company profits.
        • "Progress", despite all of the advertising in the media, is about our progressive slide into state-ism. Ersatz liberty.
          • "Progress", despite all of the advertising in the media, is about our progressive slide into state-ism

Which HIIBA 2010 does not do. The state doesn't do anything important as a result of HIIBA 2010 that it didn't do before; it just cements their love for their masters in the insurance industry.

            • I guess you missed all of the graft and vote buying afoot. It's OK: I don't look to you for analysis.
              • Your reply makes no sense in response to the comment it was posted after. Perhaps slashdot mangled it in coming back online?

I admit that indeed HIIBA 2010 is the insurance industry collecting on their investment, and no other bill would have happened from a similarly composed congress regardless of their party affiliation as the insurance industry owns congress-critters from both sides of the aisle. • So, we're converging on the Statist point from disparate directions.
                  • So, we're converging on the Statist point from disparate directions.

No, we are converging on the conclusion that the State belongs not to the people, but to the corporations; and converging on that inevitable fact from different directions. You have further to go to get there, coming from millions of miles out in fantasy world. I'd be surprised if you ever fully get there.

                    • No, we are converging on the conclusion that the State belongs not to the people, but to the corporations...

Yes, and when are you going to stop being stupid and admit that you give the state to the corporations with your vote?? Your vote for for democrats and republicans is a vote for the corporation. You pick and choose the lies to believe in deciding between to two choices you allow yourselves. You wear blinders so you don't get spooked by the alternatives, and accuse those who don't vote for your particu

                    • You still haven't offered a useful alternative.
                    • You have not given any explanation for how your "solution" of not voting is somehow better.
                    • Yeah, I have, many times. Your post is a lie. You just refuse to see. They are even right there on the ballot. At this point all of you just sell your votes to the highest bidder and choose to ignore the rest. Quit the blame passing!

That, and I offered up a real alternative to mitigate the careerism and corruption. But, purely out of fear that it could jeopardize your privileged status, you'll hear nothing of it! So please, save your breath on the bullshit.

                    • And you haven't stopped lying. What else is new? Your a lamer! Your shtick is bullshit.

                    • Strange new definition of "lying" you're using, there. I don't think that word means what you think it means...
                    • Golly gee! I guess you got me there. If you actually believe the lie, it's called something else. Wanna help a brother out and give me a hint what that word is?

                    • And when there are facts to support what some idiot is calling a lie, it is also not a lie. Just because you opt to not believe factual information placed in front of you doesn't mean that statements based on those facts are automatically lies.
                    • Uh huh.. please continue.. I am fascinated by your theory there, professor...

                      Christ! You're a maroon!

                    • You and d_r both seem to be flailing and spinning at fairly high frequency of late.

That, and I offered up a real alternative to mitigate the careerism and corruption.

Oh, the purely randomized office holders? You say that, and then carpet bomb the likes of Sarah Palin. So keep accusing me. Makes your butt as big as d_r's.

                    • Well, there ya go. Wave it off, and keep on twisting. What you have is your choice and nobody elses. And I prefer *full figured*!

                    • How would you implement this? How would you gain acceptance? How do you realistically thing such a system would be viewed as legitimate? Surely?
                    • I don't want to implement anything. You make the choice. You can either make the attempt, or stay comfortable where you are, selling your vote to the highest bidder to maintain supremacy and aspire for membership to the aristocracy, which also explains your epic defense (as a 'conservative') of the status quo and religious conformity. I am merely showing you your contradictions. How you decide to resolve them, or not, is totally up to you!

      • HA! Push-back's a bitch, ain't it? That's what you get for believing the opposition was ever real! It was always bipartisan. Who knows? Maybe good things are afoot after all, and we just might get medicare for all in my lifetime. Oh! Equality! Horrible, horrible equality!

        • we just might get medicare for all in my lifetime
