Journal jawtheshark's Journal: A small word on my own sanity. 4

First of all, thank you for everyone who commented, smsed, emailed, tweeted, facebooked and even called me on the phone. That was very nice of you guys. I need to clarify why, in most cases, I did not reply. This is not because I don't want your help, or am not grateful for that. There are simply too many offers (did I say, you guys were great?) and personally replying to each one would take a lot of time. So I simply didn't... Don't take it personally.

As for my sanity.... Yes, people, I am going to get professional help. As you may know my mom is a nurse and she remembered at once the phone number of an association for people in my situation. I'm going to call them. Promised.

Also, the first reaction for most people in my situation is to blame oneself. I've seen this first hand yesterday when talking to the friend she went out with. Well, I know this and I'm not going to do that. Final point... I am not wholly responsible for this. Perhaps you might have had the impression, that I did, in the last journal. As a matter of fact, I'm more playing detective and trying to understand the bits and pieces, in order to put together the puzzle of what exactly happened.

As for the "good" news, which I completely forgot to tell you (ain't I mean?). She doe have a broken vertebrae, but she feels her legs. They're going to operate that next Wednesday. Also, she will be transferred to a normal room today and won't be in intensive care anymore.

Update 2009-09-27 14h35
I just had her on the phone in order to tell me what stuff to take with me (clothes, etc...). Can you believe me that she started actively blaming me? Don't worry, I'm not going to take that.

  • It sounds like you are making a lot of good decisions. It also sounds like she is still in a very bad place, but I do hope with therapy she can come back from it.
  • There's a comment on your first journal about this event that seems somewhat unnecessary. I'm very glad to hear that you're taking care of yourself, getting help, and not letting yourself be blamed. I hope you both get through this, and that she will be willing to get the help she needs.
  • Glad you're not going to take it. I am also glad that she can feel her feet. I hope her surgery goes smoothly.
