...where racism and sexism meet.
Affirmative Action, like a cast left too long on a broken limb, destroys that which it was meant to help.
You really want to end racism? Cease to perpetuate it.

  • One question?

And what, pray tell, should we do with the rest of Amerika while "we" (you and I) are devoid of ill will, and they (so many of the other ~ 250 million) are seething with racism, resentment, sexism, ill education, prejudice, and/or other conditions promoting hatred of their brothers and sisters with the same different amount of melanin in their skin?

    jest askin.

    • Pray for it. I pray for peace daily.
      • Pray for it? Yeah, we know how well that works out [portlandtribune.com].

        • "Almighty God, have mercy on this slashdotter, who merits such as little as do I."
        • Yes, praying.... [wordpress.com]
          • Heh, that is a good one. As if God wants his people to simply pray but otherwise take no action to alleviate human suffering. While of course I'd quibble with the "do nothing" part of that "inspirational poster", I wouldn't with the one I'd add next to it for my secular Progressive friends. The title would be "lapel ribbons", and instead of bent over the head would be held high, with a smug look on the face.

      • Ironically, the fact that a miraculous peace has not yet come over the many millennia of recorded prayers for peace is one of the many factors that made me start doubting whether there was a god who cared about us humans.

        • Entirely reasonable. And I mean that from the specific context that, if reason itself is deemed to encompass the whole of reality, then Christians are a mad lot, indeed.
    • Jimmy: pray tell,

      smitty: Pray for it.

Lessee here, so you prayed that he would tell you the answer, and he answered that he would do what you did, pray! ;)

Or, we could go to our friends on the Left, grab their throats firmly with one hand, and slap them silly with the other, until they come to their senses and drop this stupid myth that there are by now still gobs and gobs of Americans who hate black people and women et al. and don't think they should have jobs and promotions and housing and an education etc

      • The limb suffered such a terrible fracture, it will prolly never be as good as "new"/like it never happened.

Of course it will never be as if the original sin went uncommitted.
Sincere prayer, coupled with genuine forgiveness, remain a force unstoppable by inferior legislation, i.e. hate crime laws.

If you believe the hype then you help perpetuate it. Unfortunately most discussions (and accusations) of racism have more FUD and outright dishonesty behind them than reality.

It's the same vague notion of Fear and Indignation that brought up the Child Advocacy movements (a.k.a. think-of-the-children). In this respect, the people who bring it up the most are the ones who have the "evil" thoughts. These types of political Trolls (I'm not referring to this JE) just perpetuate and inflame hatred.
