Oops, thought I added this last night. Anyway, it's dead after several years of arguing within it's carefully crafted genre of computer industry legal news mixed with general debate about the ebb and flow of various computer engineering related markets.

interesting thing. Although slashdot is known to be anti-microsoft, as a result there is a vibrant subculture of pro-microsoft people. Such counter cultures tend to be stronger, so it's a well equiped pro-microsoft culture.

Frankly I like the wierd genre defined by the Microsoft and Monopoly Forum, a mix of industry news, market discussion (servers vs. clients vs. embedded vs. console), and corporate law.

Throw in a little bit of Ayn Rand and Quantum Physics and it's stew!

Anyway, if you like to post as this MonopolyNews account it might be a good idea to do so in stories that are suitable topics for a Monopoly News section, e.g. Sun/Apple/Microsoft/Dell/IBM news.

This account has a "sig" that points back to this log. If you post pro microsoft and I post anti, each post is like an advert for this journal. Since Slashdot has a moderation system, highly modified posts get seen by more people.

Hmm, a rollcall is it? Okay BTW, if we are waiting for kate_nyt to pull her finger out and do what she said....I think you guys know the rest. She'll no doubt get around to deleting the forum in about 4 months after some earthshattering MS-related news makes the forum current and popular again and Billwg is in the middle of making some breathtaking confession or apology... Or am I being too cynical?
